The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center brings together a superb ensemble for two of the greatest works in the chamber repertoire: Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet and Brahms’s Clarinet Quintet. Clarinetist Sebastian Manz, winner of the ARD International Music Competition, is joined by Stella Chen, first-prize winner of the Queen Elisabeth Competition; Chad Hoopes, winner of the Yehudi Menuhin International Violin Competition; Timothy Ridout, first-prize winner of both the Lionel Tertis and Cecil Aronowitz International Viola Competitions; and Clive Greensmith, former cellist of the Tokyo String Quartet. Spanning just over a century, the program pairs Mozart’s luminous grace with Brahms’s autumnal introspection, offering the clarinet in two of its most eloquent and beloved roles.
