October Update from the Artistic Directors

Artistic Directors, Dmitri Atapine and Hyeyeon Park

Our season’s theme, Landscapes, invites us to discover new worlds of beauty and imagination. And what a wonderful pair of concerts awaits us! On October 16, the magnificent Modigliani Quartet brings us Debussy’s groundbreaking colors and Schumann’s deep Romanticism, alongside something truly special: the US premiere of Kryštof Mařatka’s AMEDEA—visage de jeune fille. Inspired by a portrait by Amedeo Modigliani, this fascinating new work gives musical life to an image captured on canvas. What a privilege to welcome a new work alongside two beloved masterpieces!

And on October 21, the extraordinary Gabriela Montero takes us on a musical journey particularly close to our hearts! Dmitri grew up in Spain, and its rich musical heritage remains a source of deep affection and inspiration. From the elegance of Scarlatti and Soler to the poetry of Granados, the intoxicating shades of Albéniz, and the intimacy of Mompou, Ms. Montero’s program evokes a landscape of sunlight and shadows, passion and longing. And what an artist to bring it all to life! Her breathtaking virtuosity, boundless imagination, and profound emotional generosity promise a phenomenal evening, culminating in Chopin and Liszt’s Spanish inspirations. Two concerts, two remarkable musical worlds, and so much beauty to discover. We cannot wait!
