Al Mauro, Jr. and Molly Dwyer bring a lifelong love of music and care for the community to their role as Honorary Chairs of the 2027 Soirée. Al is a lifelong Kansas City resident and has been attending Friends’ concerts for over 45 years. Despite his uncertain musical ability, Al graduated college with a minor in Music and, after moving back to Kansas City, wrote classical music previews for the weekly “New Times” newspaper, showing clear favoritism for the Friends of Chamber Music. Al joined the Board of the Friends in 2018 and helped guide the search for our new artistic directors. Molly shares Al’s underdeveloped musical talent but also his love for it. In addition to the Friends, Molly and Al give their time to Friends of the Zoo, the National Museum of Toys and Miniatures, and the Veterans Community Project. Molly and Al have two daughters who also share their love for classical music and sadly also their talents. Sophia lives and works in Washington, D.C., and Francesca is at law school in Boston.
