Hyeyeon Park is Artistic Co-Director of Friends of Chamber Music Kansas City, where she and cellist Dmitri Atapine guide the artistic vision and mission of the organization. Together, they have also been selected as Artistic Directors Designate of the Music@Menlo Chamber Music Festival and Institute, one of the world’s most prestigious chamber music festivals and educational institutions. In addition, Park and Atapine are Co-Founders and Artistic Co-Directors of Apex Concerts in Reno, Nevada, and Co-Directors of the Music@Menlo Smith Family Young Performers Program, helping to mentor and develop the next generation of chamber musicians.

Praised as “a pianist with power, precision, and tremendous glee” (Gramophone) and for her “very sensitive” playing (The Washington Post), Park has appeared as both soloist and chamber musician on many of the world’s most distinguished stages, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, and the Seoul Arts Center. A frequent collaborator with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, she has also performed at leading international festivals including Music@Menlo, Chamber Music Northwest, Yellow Barn, the Santander International Festival, and the Great Mountains Music Festival. As concerto soloist, she has appeared with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Korea National University of Arts Symphony Orchestra, Incheon Philharmonic Orchestra, Gangnam Symphony Orchestra, and Seoul Festival Orchestra.

Named Artist of the Year by the Seoul Arts Center in 2012, Park has earned top prizes and honors at numerous international competitions, including the Oberlin International Piano Competition, Ettlingen International Piano Competition, Hugo Kauder International Competition, Prix Amadèo International Competition, Corpus Christi International Competition, Vittorio Gui International Competition, and the Plowman Chamber Music Competition. Her artistic expertise is recognized internationally through invitations to serve as adjudicator and juror for major competitions and artistic programs, including the Honens International Piano Competition, Pro Musicis International Award Auditions, Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Bowers Program Auditions, and the Dallas International Piano Competition.

A passionate advocate for contemporary music, Park has premiered and championed works by leading composers including Ezra Laderman, David Serkin Ludwig, Patrick Castillo, Libby Larsen, and others. Her acclaimed discography includes the world-premiere recording of Lowell Liebermann’s Complete Works for Cello and Piano, hailed by American Record Guide as “a valuable disc for the collector,” the solo album Klavier 1853, and Wavelength, a recording devoted to contemporary chamber works by prominent American composers.

Park holds degrees from the Korea National University of Arts studying with Daejin Kim and the Yale School of Music where she was a student of Peter Frankl and Claude Frank. Park earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, where she studied with Yong Hi Moon and was mentored by Leon Fleisher. She is Professor of Piano at the University of Nevada, Reno.
