Friends of Chamber Music &
Heartland Young Artist Project

Friends of Chamber Music Kansas City and Heartland Chamber Music are proud to continue their joint initiative to expand music education opportunities in our community. We are delighted to begin the second season of our innovative chamber music program, the Friends of Chamber Music and Heartland Young Artist Project.

Through this collaboration, we will offer full scholarships to four select chamber music ensembles, consisting of piano and string students aged 12-19 from the Kansas City area. These talented young musicians will receive top-quality instruction, including weekly coaching sessions from our esteemed faculty, which includes some of Kansas City's most renown musicians, as well as Dmitri Atapine and Hyeyeon Park, the artistic co-directors of Friends of Chamber Music Kansas City.

Additionally, participants will have the unique opportunity to perform in masterclasses and work with select world-renowned artists featured in Friends of Chamber Music Kansas City's 2024-2025 season. During the previous 2023-2024 season, our young artists students had the privilege of learning from distinguished artists such as Quartetto di Cremona and members of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.

Participants will not only perform in the program’s chamber music recitals but will also develop essential leadership skills and serve as ambassadors for chamber music through outreach performances in the Kansas City community. In the 2023-2024 season, students in the Young Artist Project extended their work beyond the core program by performing in a series of community outreach concerts. These included a performance hosted by the Kansas City Music Teachers Association, an aired performance on Kansas Public Radio, and a highly acclaimed educational performance tour across all high schools in the Blue Valley School District.
